Want to hear what my clients have to say?
These are so lovely, I just had to share them with you!
Read to me!
Hi there brain injury buddies! As you know everything on this website is recorded in audio — read by me 🙂 But when it came to the testimonials, it seemed very weird to read out & record testimonials about myself. I didn’t want to ask my clients to read them out because 1) wanting to maintain confidentiality, and 2) I didn’t want to ask more from them after they already so graciously used up some of their time and energy to write such lovely things! So the voices you’re going to hear on the rest of the page are nutrition colleagues of mine who kindly lent their voices! Enjoy.

“I started working with Krystal in the summer of 2020. It has been one of the best investments in myself that I have ever made. Struggling with food and nutrition, as well as the symptoms and challenges that accompany a mild traumatic brain injury, I really needed help. “
Initially, I explored Krystal’s website before contacting her. The website’s large and clear text size, the ease of navigation and options to read, listen and/or watch information did not leave my brain exhausted. I realized quickly that there were many ideas, skills and topics there that I could relate to and wanted to learn more about.
When I got in touch with Krystal, I found that she was very professional and a great listener. Since then, Krystal has helped me to work within my limits, set realistic goals and is very aware of how to accommodate for menu planning that meets my needs.
My appointments with Krystal have helped me grow in confidence and I have re-learned how to prepare simple snacks and meals independently. We have tackled important topics together such as eating well despite food intolerances, coping with emotional eating and managing menopause. I have never left an appointment feeling pressured or overwhelmed. There are free resources to return to if I want to refresh my memory and the modules are broken into easy chunks, making it easy to take breaks and stay on topic.
Krystal is a knowledgeable dietician and empathetic TBI survivor. I would highly recommend her to anyone who would like support to explore food and nutrition without diets or rules.

“I made an investment in myself by signing up for her TBI Nutrition Masterclass. We got started a few months ago and I am so glad I joined!”
I love working with Krystal Merrells!
I have been living with digestive issues and chronic fatigue for almost a decade, and in the last few years have also sustained multiple concussions / whiplash injuries resulting in PCS (post concussion syndrome).
When I found Krystal on Instagram I was immediately impressed by the approachability of her content, in particular how thoughtful she is with regards to making sure that her content is accessible for those with brain injuries (eg, webinars and videos with simple / easy-to-absorb slides, multiple formats for different kinds of learners, slow and clearly articulated speech, transcripts of videos).
I made an investment in myself by signing up for her TBI Nutrition Masterclass. We got started a few months ago and I am so glad I joined! What I liked about the payment model is that with TBI‘s and chronic fatigue, flexibility is critical. So having having to pay a monthly subscription for so many services is really frustrating because I often have to pivot to focus on another aspect of my recovery, leaving those monthly costs to add up while I’m off doing something else. However, Krystal’s model offers lifetime access. So despite the upfront cost cost being higher, it has already saved me money compared to those other services.
In addition, her approach to nutrition has won me over – after years of strict diets, boatloads of supplements, and complicated tracking, I’m so relieved to find someone who makes eating for your health easy, practical, and much less guilt-ridden!! She’s already helped me change my mindset around food – which has gotten really distorted over the last decade.
All that to say, I’m super happy with the program and my investment in the class!! Thanks, Krystal!

“I’m excited to eat and enjoy a variety of foods again with a truly balanced approach that works for me.”
From our first phone call, I was so impressed with how Krystal approached nutrition. Unlike other nutritionists I’ve worked with, she never tried to fit me into a diagnostic box, or a weight category, or push me into a generic diet.
Her entire approach was extremely personalized with a holistic approach that took into account so much more than just what I did or didn’t eat. Her guidance and educational resources helped me take consistent manageable steps towards a better relationship with food. I’m excited to eat and enjoy a variety of foods again with a truly balanced approach that works for me.

“Krystal helped me lower my stress around cooking and increase enjoyment of food.”
Even though we did the sessions by video conference, Krystal is such a good listener that I felt that she was in my living room sharing a cup of tea with me. She paid attention to everything that I said, then created a plan that was specific to my nutrition goals and food preferences.
I liked the simplicity of the plan and the fact that it was presented in a visually pleasing way. An unexpected bonus was that my teenage son recently started making his own breakfast using one of Krystal’s recipes.
Krystal helped me lower my stress around cooking and increase enjoyment of food. Thank you Krystal!
